Jolis Tricots {United socks}

I’ve always loved reinterpreting patterns, changing colors and yarn sizes, adding that little touch that makes my knitting unique and perfectly suited to me. One of the best examples that comes to mind is my Secret of Change, created by Veera Välimäki. I added an extra repeat at the end of the “official” pattern, knitted it in two colors and added a picot flap. As much as I love the original pattern, I can safely say that my modified version is one of the knits I wear the most, thanks to these modifications.

One of the things I love most about my work as a designer is seeing YOU reinterpret my patterns. Here are a few examples to inspire you the next time you’re looking for a sock pattern.

Radiative

Radiative is the first sock pattern I was lucky enough to publish in Knotions, an American online magazine.

I love this photo, aren’t they SO Cute?

Not Bothered by the Cold

First published as an MKAL, these highly winter-inspired socks are pretty in any color, aren’t they?

Aline chose to keep it simple and knit her socks in white. This fits in well with the pattern’s theme and highlights the lace motif. I love it!

Swirling Ribbons

Playing with colors and textures is one of the reasons I started creating patterns. Playing with color through texture is like a dream come true.

Aline also knitted this pattern 💗 She chose a very lightly speckled wool that perfectly highlights the texture created by the stitch in this pattern.

With this wool color, you can see how the pattern plays with color placement and makes them dance all around your foot. These socks are a birthday gift for a very lucky Mom, happy (belated) birthday!

Moving Forward

I created this pattern using The Uncommon Thread’s Tough Sock in Spumoni. It was (and still is) one of my favorite colors and one I dream of using again! In creating the pattern, I wanted a fairly simple lace motif, to allow the wool to stand out.

Great minds think alike. It’s exactly the same color I used for my Swirling Ribbons prototype! Proof, if proof were needed, that semi-varied wools can produce very pretty lace.

Julie is one of my regular Sneak Peekers who has become a friend over the years. She always chooses beautiful wools and knits faster than her shadow! #LuckyLukeDuTricot

The color, the shoes, the knitwear, the floor, everything is perfect in this photo! (And I WANT the same shoes!)

Neon pink! I love them a little too much to be reasonable, I think!
