Winter really is one of my favorite seasons. For me, it’s obviously synonymous with snow, frost, icy wind, magnificent landscapes that I can’t get enough of and that are like an invitation to take the time to slow down and appreciate the little pleasures of everyday life.
My inspiration here is nature in the heart of winter, and in particular the little baubles of holly that are so often found in holiday decorations, bringing with them hot chocolates, speculoos, gourmet pancakes or waffles, and of course the cozy knitwear we love so much.
The lace body of the shawl is semi-circular, giving it a very enveloping drape. The motifs are easy to remember and knit, making the shawl accessible even to adventurous beginners. Garter stitch short rows are worked with the German Short Row technique.
The sample is knitted in five contrasting colors, but it is entirely possible to reduce or increase the number of colors or enven to knit it in a single color. The difference in texture between stockinette and garter stitch remains interesting regardless of the number of colors used.
