Lovely knits {Brioche in two colours}

by Tisserin Coquet

I always loved to reinterpret patterns, changing colours, yarn weights, adding the extra little which make the FO totally mine. One of the best example which comes to my mind right now is my Secret of Change, designed by Veera Välimäki. I added one pattern repeat after the end of the “official” pattern, knitted it in two colours and added a picot bind-off. As much as I like the original pattern, I’m utterly in love with my version of it and I can surely say that it’s one of my most worn knitted item of all times, thanks to these modifications.

One of the best part of being a designer is seeing YOU knitting the patterns I designed. Here are a few example to inspire you the next time you’ll be in search of a brioche shawl pattern.

PS: If you want to be featured in a Lovely Knits article, don’t forget to post your FO pictures on IG!

Jeune Pousse

Jeune pousse is an asymmetrical triangular shawl with different sections in garter or brioche stitch and a lace border. It uses two skeins of fingering yarn. The pattern is available as usual :

First things first, Melissa is awesome. She is a skillful bag maker, spinner, and obviously knitter. She choose earthy tones for her shawl and it is stunning! This makes me want to knit a new brioche shawl in a similar colour scheme!

Brioche for Teatime

The Brioche for Teatime shawl is worked from the top centre down with i-cord selvedges. Its body alternates between brioche stitch patterns and garter stitch sections, and features a laterally worked brioche border. The pattern is available on all my plateforms:

mreffle knitted a Brioche for Teatime for her daughter Heather back in January using two colours of The Loving Path Fibre Arts Sole Sock. All of her mods are detailed in her Ravelry project!

Sandra’s shawl is BIG! And her colour scheme really different from mine, love it!

Séverine chose really peachy and fruity colour scheme. For a first brioche shawl, I call it a huge success!

I love how Kati’s colours are blending on some area of the shawl. A good overall contrast is necessary in brioche but some blending spots are a really nice addition to that!
